13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Regardless what your view is about the rapture we are instructed to comfort one another. I don’t know about you I find no comfort in the mid tribulation view or the pre wrath view knowing that I would have to go through 3.5 years of Gods judgments. Furthermore, I find no comfort in the post tribulation view either. God would allow His church to go through His wrath with the unbelievers makes no sense. What happen to Revelation 3:10? Do we just skip over it like it doesn’t exist. Not at all! We explain it using Gods word and what Jesus said.
Revelation 3:10, KJV: Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
What is the hour of temptation? Is the hour of temptation the same thing as the hour of trail? Yes, the hour of trial is found in the NKJV. The hour of temptation is found in the KJV.
Jesus promised to keep the church “from the hour of trial or temptation.
Jesus’ made it clear that the church will not go through the hour of trial. The Greek word translated “from” is ek, meaning “out of.” If the church were going through the tribulation, the Greek word dia, meaning “through,” would have been used I believe. But it wasn’t….
Also, Jesus said the hour of trial is coming on the whole world, not on His Bride. Gods judgments that happen during the tribulation will fall on “those who dwell on the earth.” The ones who dwell on the earth are those who made their home the world, not heaven. They are often referred to as earth dwellers… Jesus will take His believer out of the world before the tribulation begins. The unbelievers will go through the Tribulation period.
Dr. John Ankerberg explains the hour temptation this way.
Let me give you a little bit more information about Jesus’ promise, “I will also keep thee from the hour of temptation.” The Greek word for temptation, peirasmos, and its related verb, peirazo, have two basic meanings. First, they refer to testing or trying people to determine, demonstrate or expose the kind of people they are. For example, Jesus asked Philip a question to peirazo him, to test him, to try him (John 6:6).
Arndt and Gingrich in their Greek Lexicon assert that the noun peirasmos means “test, trial” and its related verb peirazo means “to try, make trial of, put to the test to discover what kind of person someone is.” This definition fits the exact context of Revelation 3:10 where the purpose of the trial, temptation, or testing is said to be “to try them that dwell upon the earth.” The “earth dwellers” are not Christians; they have turned against God and hate God. God will test or try these people during the Tribulation time period to expose the kind of people they are.
It’s comforting to know we will not have to go through any part of the tribulation period. To my mid trib, pre wrath trib, post trib brothers who believe they will. Go right ahead!
